Apple has been silent for 207 days now. No new products. No new services. No new apps. Only incremental updates and bug fixes. 207 days of nothing. Is this silence about to be disrupted by a big “bang” at the WWDC 2013?

Smartphone manufacturers and wireless carriers could be doing a lot more to counteract iPhone and other mobile device thefts, security experts and industry observers say in a New York Times report that singles out Apple.

Next up: Apple’s responsability of the global warming. 

Certainly a valid point of view. Carriers have a love and hate relationship with Apple. Someone else would have given what they wanted in order to get market share an compete against Apple.

I think Apple’s strengths are twofold: brand loyalty and the ecosystem. Both combined creates a powerful juggernaut that isn’t easy to compete against. Having great hardware alone isn’t enough (Samsung), having services isn’t enough (Google), having loyal users alone doesn’t cut it.

Apple has both and listening to Tim Cook’s comments on the last conference call, I’m sure Apple has some plans to build on top of this in order to offer powerful new offerings to Apple customers. 

Pretty much everything we read about Apple in the technology and finance press is ridiculous these days.

These days, “analysts” seems more interested in generating page hits than looking intelligent. Tim Cook and his team focus will serve Apple well in these tumultuous times.
