At next week’s Worldwide Developer Conference, Apple is apparently planning to make a big splash in the connected “smart home” market, introducing new ways for the iPhone, iPad and even Apple TV to control lights, security systems and other household appliances.
Exactly the kind of thing Apple is up to: augmenting their ecosystem, building platforms.
I like the idea of having Shazam technology built right into iOS. What I don’t like is the idea of having to invoke Siri to ask “what song is playing”. In many environment where we hear a song and want to know what is playing, Siri couldn’t even understand what we are asking because of a loud environment (a bar for example). I can see a much easier way to invoke Shazam: from within the Control Center by touching a mic button on directly on the lock screen, just like the camera button. Finally, just like John Gruber asked: why not buy Shazam altogether?
Apple must do this. Apple has to do that. Apple should do this. Well, shut the fuck up guys you don’t even know what you are talking about.
This piece is more like “I wish the next iPhone will have this and that, so let’s try to use my job as a tech journalist to put pressure on Apple and look bright while doing so”. Moron.
