Is iTunes Radio the killer app in iOS 7?
With iOS 7, Apple is forgetting the black iPhone.
Marco Arment on iOS 7:
Apple has set fire to iOS. Everything’s in flux. Those with the least to lose have the most to gain, because this fall, hundreds of millions of people will start demanding apps for a platform with thousands of old, stale players and not many new, nimble alternatives. If you want to enter a category that’s crowded on iOS 6, and you’re one of the few that exclusively targets iOS 7, your app can look better, work better, and be faster and cheaper to develop than most competing apps.
This is exactly right.
Maybe that is why bad comments about iOS 7 seem to come mostly from designers because less graphical design but more interaction design will be needed.
Dear Apple,
Marketing people aren’t designers.
Sincerely,
An iOS user.
Very empathic view on iOS 7 announced yesterday. Let Apple finish it before judging. Let use it for while before making a final call.
The more I look at hands on videos and pictures of iOS 7, the more I think that bad things in it are fixable. This is beta software and I can see Apple tweaking iOS 7 visual elements before being available to the mass this fall. The first thing Apple has to address is then home screen icons.
“There must have been intense debates inside Apple design teams while they worked on the new visual language of iOS 7.”
What I thought would be happening is happening: all the talks on the UI not enough on the fundamentals.
Now it seems that Apple’s two operating system never looked so far apart in look and feel. These two seems to be the product of two very different companies.
Like if I wasn’t sure about how ugly the new visual language of iOS 7 is.
