“Prior to iPad mini 2 launch, Apple might roll out a more affordable iPad mini to compete with Android products. To cut costs, Apple might push for lower component prices, use a more advanced process to produce the A5 processor, simplify metal casing production, remove the rear camera, cut storage to 8GB and find more component suppliers to lower costs. We think this cheaper iPad mini retail for US$199~249.”
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo
He doesn’t get it. Apple don’t fight at the low end. The iPad mini is still in pretty much high demand. Why is it so hard to understand?
I wonder if the narrower bezel of the iPad mini is a good idea when applied to the bigger iPad. The reason is that the latter is supposed to feel just right when you hold it in portrait or landscape orientation with your fingers without thinking of accidentally touching the screen.
A simple analysis of the effectiveness of the printed iPad mini ads. Clever indeed.
This picture shows how much the current full size iPad is becoming the one out of this world… It is the next to see a skin change in 2013…

An iPad mini printed ad. Clever.
I saw the mini and I love it. I don’t expect Apple to revolutionize the tablet market with every product release. This is not how Apple operates. They are pretty much doing the same thing they did with the iPod going mini. I’m surprised by Dave Winner’s stand on the iPad mini. This guy isn’t a new comer in the field, he should know.
This look quite interesting to look back at this Forbes article about the iPad mini announcement from Apple back in October.
Allure: Tim Cook’s Distortion Field.
Tim Cook is no Steve Jobs when the show is on. He relies his colleagues to sell the damn thing. Much like Steve used to do before leaving Apple.
Aggression: Pricing Will Determine Cook’s Strategy.
The 329$ price tag of the iPad mini seems a bit higher than many would have expected. But the mini isn’t like other 7” tablets. Hence the price difference Apple is asking for it. Rightfully.
Acknowledgement: Maps Wasn’t Apple’s Finest Hour.
No mention to the Maps fiasco during the keynote. Apple didn’t have to. They made their public excuses before. Then they asked Scott Forstall to leave short after the keynote. Time to move on now and fix things.
Agility: Everybody Look Under Your Seats.
Apple seems to start catching up demand for the iPad mini, a few weeks after its introduction. We’ll see how this plays out during the holiday season.
Affection: Is Apple’s New Focus On Flair Or Figures?
I thought that emotion was a bit higher during the unavailing of the iPad mini in part because a lot more were unveiled during the keynote including a few surprises (iPad 4, Fusion Drives).
I saw the iPad mini yesterday at an Apple store in Florida. I love the size of this thing. I love the finish. But the non retina-screen is a big downer for me.
Well, there’s the obvious headline click-bait we’ll all been waiting for.
But wait.
Why is Rocky Agrawal returning his iPad mini? To get an LTE version with more storage because he loves the device so much and wants to pay more for a better version. That’s not just a misleading headline, it’s some next-level trolling right there.
This is why I couldn’t care less. After the patent trolls, next up are the headline trolls.
Look at these devices from left to right. Repeat. Amazing. Compare the screen sizes. From left to right. Now ask yourself: why the iPad mini is the most expansing.
