Interesting comments from John Gruber on the iPhone 6 pricing model Apple could devise. My expectations are that the 4.7” iPhone 6 will be the new 199$ model @ 16 GB and the 5.5” will command a premium.
I’m getting really sick of these iPhone 6 leaks. Useless. Pointless.
Count me impressed.
This could be the most accurate (and gorgeous) mockup of the upcoming iPhone 6. Oh god I love this!
Count me as relieved. These lines were just looking awful by destroying the purity of the base design.
This would be really surprising. Look at the iPad product lines. You can get a 128 GB model of the iPad mini just as you can get 128 GB iPad Air.
According to a poll on www.ilounge.com, Of more than 8500 voters, 56% of them would rather prefer the original iPhone size instead of a larger device. Wow, that is surprising. Even more surprising: nearly 20% are looking at device larger than the expected 5.5”… are they looking for an iPad mini?
The analyst firm has heard that the 4.7-inch iPhone will be called the iPhone 6 Air (a name previously reported to belong to the bigger model), and the 5.5-inch model will allegedly be named the “iPhone 6 Pro”
The more I think about it, the more I think it only makes sense. A rebranding of the iPhone will enforce the idea that the iPhone 6 is much more than an incremental revision of the iPhone 5. This will be a complete different beast requiring its own naming rules. So, there you have it: 4.7” will get the Air monicker while the 5.5” device would get the Pro monicker. I’m not very enthousiast regarding the latter. Also, iPhone Air and iPhone Pro could be simpler instead of adding the middle “6”.
According to the following explanation from 9to5Mac, the iPhone 6 won’t display more information compared to the iPhone 5s, same stuff but at a higher resolution… Just like the iPhone 4 did compared to the iPhone 3GS. Mmmm… I would have preferred same resolution but with more content on the screen…
This means that Apple will likely be tripling the aforementioned “base resolution” (568 x 320) of the iPhone screen in both directions, and that the iPhone screen resolution will be scaled with an increase of 150% from the current 2X resolution of 1136 x 640. Of course, Apple tests several different iPhones and display technologies, so it is possible that Apple chooses to take another route for display specifications for the 2014 iPhone upgrade.
1704 likely the new 1136:
568 tripled is 1704 and 320 tripled is 960, and sources indicate that Apple is testing a 1704 x 960 resolution display for the iPhone 6. Tripling the iPhone 5′s base resolution would mean that the iPhone 6′s screen will retain the same 16:9 aspect ratio as the iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, and iPhone 5c.
