Plastic iPhone compared to older iPhones
I wonder why so many people freak out about a new “low end” plastic iPhone. The first three gen of this device were done with plastic casing. And I’m not even thinking about Samsung’s shit.
Market saturation at the high end is the culprit for the apparent lack of interest for the iPhone 5 (only 50% of all iPhone sales). Older iPhones take the rest of the sales. I suspect Apple to be working to replace the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S with higher spec devices that are more appealing and much cheaper to build. They will greatly improve Apple’s margins too.
I think iOS 7 new colors coupled with new and colored low end iPhones will be a hit this fall.
Colored mid-range iPhones that match iOS 7’s new colors. Welcome to fall of 2013.
As of now, there is no way of seeing iOS 7 running on a black iPhone. Why is that?
One cannot compare the iPod product line expansion in the past to the potential iPhone product line expansion. Both lines are serving a very different need.
Every day, more people enjoy their music on the iPhone than any other phone.
I really love this new ad campaign from Apple. Emotionnal. What could be the third one?
Apple has a history of pricing its budget devices well beyond the consensus on what the device “needs” to be priced at to be competitive. The iPad mini launched at $329, when analysts said it needed to launch at $249 to compete with the likes of the Kindle Fire and Nexus 7. The iPad mini is now the most popular 7-inch tablet in the world. Likewse, the iPod nano launched at $199, when analysts said it needed to cost half that to compete with cheapie MP3 players.
So the “cheap” iPhone won’t be as cheap as some would have liked.
Agreed. Lets call the next iPhone, the iPhone 6. I always felt weird about the iPhone naming scheme used by Apple.
iPhone naming schemes isn’t an obvious thing. But Apple seems to have fixed this with the iPad. Why not with the iPhone?
Phil Schiller already said that it doesn’t want Apple to be too predictable. What does it mean for the next iPhone?
"Today, we’re introducing the new iPhone" (aka iPhone 5S or iPhone 6)
"Today, we’re introducing the seventh generation iPhone"
"Today, please welcome the ultimate iPhone."
I don’t know. You tell me.
